RULES: Winners re-post this completely with their acceptance speech. This could be written or video recorded. Winners have the privilege of awarding the next awardees! The re-post should include a NEW set of people/blogs worthy of the award; and winners notify them the great news. RESOURCES:

  • What makes a good acceptance speech?
    • Gratitude. Thank the people who helped you along the way
    • Humor. Keep us entertained and smiling
    • Inspiration. Make your story touch our lives
  • Get an idea from the great acceptance speeches, compiled in MomentMatters.com/Speech
  • Display the award’s badge on your blog/website, downloadable in MomentMatters.com/Award

For the Best Moment Award I have to write an acceptance speech! I am forever grateful to blogging and the many other writers and readers for welcoming me into a vibrant world of blogging. Blogging thawed out my writing skills. Somehow I heard about the existence of blogs, blogging sites and blogging directories and I snapped to attention. Suddenly, I was thinking up a username, a title for a blog, looking at templates and design and layout. All these activities loosened up my creativity while I sat typing It was like an invisible barrier slowly melted, allowing my imagination to bubble up in a stream of written words that felt just as exhilarating as my oral tradition. I was excited to start sharing written stories with other people, people who would read them, respond, comment and give me feed back on what I had written. Within weeks, I was no longer an island but part of a community of other writers who had the very same insecurities and problems as I did.

      1. Right, and I forgot to thank you for it because my hubby needed something. Sorry about that! Thanks so much for making the sun shine again on friendlyfairytales!! I will mention it in my next award posting. I have one partially drafted, but I want to make a new video with music played by my kids, and they are still working on learning to play it together. I hope to have that all ready by the weekend, but we’ll see — last week before school starts!! Woo-hoo!!

      2. Oh, that sounds divine. Gorgeous. And cold. I remember very cold winters on the great lakes, kissing cousins with the St. L.

1881. That’s recent enough to have level floors and straight walls. 7 acres, that’s a lot to care for. You must work pretty hard. Oh, the gardens I could have with 7 acres. Sigh of momentary pleasure and longing.

  3. Thank you Melanie 🙂 I’ve been getting a kid off to college and another prepared for the end of summer and start of a new school year, so not as “bloggy” as usual, hence the few days it took for me to acknowledge! Thank you for the nomination of such a cool award! And congratulations on your well deserved awards! 🙂
