Tell us about your first day at something — your first day of school, first day of work, first day living on your own, first day blogging, first day as a parent, whatever.
TRANSFORMED

When I gave birth to a baby, I was reborn as well.
Pain was instantly forgotten
Fear of inadequacy
Instantly swept aside,
The moment she was placed in my arms.
A surge of motherly love
Rose up in my heart.
A sense of awe at
Tiny,
The miracle of creation.

Perfectly formed
Fingers and toes.
Startled by
Infant’s innate instinct
He rooted hungrily,For survival as
Nursing moments after birth.
Pleased when
Our baby quickly turned his head
Hearing the sound of our voices.
He recognized us.
Then,
Focused intensely on my face,
Bonding to me,
Insuring I bonded to him.
Transformed instantaneously

Into a mother.
A gift,
Pure and simple
