There are many children’s songs that parents enjoy almost as much as their kids because they are performed by talented artists who simply love children. This type of music is a joy to listen to . It touches something deep inside us, resurrecting our inner child perhaps. I love Skinnamarinky dinky dink; it really did make me as happy as my kids. What a contrast to poorly done children’s shows and videos that are irritating and inane. Honestly, people must think kids are idiots.
When I Googled this song, I discovered that it’s a traditional folk song, though I always associate it with Sharon Lois & Bram’s Elephant Show. Did you watch this show as a kid? This version is from 1986, so even my eldest kids grew up listening to it. I love how it has little movements to accompany the lyrics. Great for making babies smile and getting toddlers to practice movement and rhythm.
Skinnamarinky dinky dink
Skinnamarinky do,
I love you!
Skinnamarinky dinky dink
Skinnamarinky do,
I love you!
I love you in the morning,
And in the afternoon
I love you in the evening,
Underneath the moon…
Skinnamarinky dinky dink
Skinnamarinky do,
I love you!
Good toddler music!

Our family song is “A Bushel and a Peck”
“Oh, I love you, a bushel and a peck,
A bushel and a peck,
And a hug around your neck.
Hug around your neck
And a barrel and a heap,
I’m talking in my sleep about you,
About you.
Oh, I love you, a bushel and a peck,
You bet you’re pretty neck I do.
Do-do-de-loo-do, Do-do-de-loo-do, Do-do-de-loo-do,
DO!”
